for the artist

At Candita Clayton Gallery we love working with artists at all stages of their careers. Including emerging, mid-career, late-career as well as artist’s estates. Our goal is to have a well-rounded program that includes all mediums in a range of price points. We connect artists, art enthusiasts, and design professionals by featuring our artist’s work within our three locations as well as on social media and within design-specific presentations.

  • Seven years ago I delivered my first paintings to Candita Clayton Gallery. As an artist working with Candita, I am so grateful for her ability to find just the right homes for my work. She has built a solid collector base for me that is consistently enthusiastic about my new work each year. Her warmth and enthusiasm for finding just the right painting not only for a seasoned collector but also for a new collector is unsurpassed. I have so thoroughly enjoyed working with Candita’s design partners through the years, as she is constantly involved in working with them on gorgeous projects. Candita seems to have a tireless well of energy for new ideas and for bringing beautiful art to everyone who loves it as much as she does. This entire career is about building relationships. Having a great partner is everything!

what artists are saying about the business of art

“After enrolling in Candita Clayton's Business of Art course, I've gained invaluable insights into the art world that extend far beyond the canvas. Clayton's approach demystified the business aspects of art, teaching me not just how to create, but how to connect, market, and sell my work effectively. The curriculum bridged the gap between artistic passion and practical business strategy, empowering us to navigate the complexities of the art market with confidence. It's been transformative, equipping me with the tools to turn my creativity into a sustainable career.” —mary s., mid-career artist

“Attending Candita Clayton's Business of Art course was a turning point in my education. As a new graduate, I feel equipped not just with artistic skills but with a solid foundation in the business side of art. Clayton's class opened my eyes to the realities of making a living as an artist, something that can seem daunting to many of us stepping out of art school. I learned about marketing, sales, and the importance of networking in ways that were practical and directly applicable to my career goals. This course didn't just prepare me to be a better artist; it prepared me to be a successful artist in the real world. I now approach my career with a sense of empowerment and readiness I didn't have before.” —jonathan p., fresh out of art school
